Reasons Jesus wasn’t and Isn’t the Messiah

What does the Bible really say?

The concept of the Messiah as taught in the Tanach (Old Testament) shows the following criteria for any person to be seen as the Messiah.

1. The Messiah will reign as King of Israel and gather all Jews from where they have been scattered back to Israel.

Isa 11:10-12: “And in that day it shall be, that the root of Yishay, that stands for a banner of the peoples, to it shall the nations seek: and his resting place shall be glorious.

And it shall come to pass in that day, that YHVH shall set his hand again the second time to re-cover the remnant of his people, that shall be left, from Ashshur, and from Miżrayim, from Patros, and from Kush, and from ῾Elam, and from Shin῾ar, and from Ḥamat, and from the islands of the sea. And he shall set up a banner for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Yisra᾽el, and gather together the dispersed of Yehuda from the four corners of the earth.”

Jer 23:5-8: Behold, days are coming, says YHVH, when I will raise to David a righteous offshoot, and he shall reign as a king and prosper, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the earth. In his days Yehuda shall be saved, and Yisra᾽el shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, YHVH is our righteousness.

Therefore, behold, days are coming, says YHVH, when they shall no more say, As YHVH lives, who brought up the children of Yisra᾽el out of the land of Miżrayim; but, As YHVH lives, who brought up and who led the seed of the house of Yisra᾽el out of the north country, and from all countries into which I have driven them; and they shall dwell in their own land.

….however Jesus was never a king and Jews didn’t flock to return to Israel.

2. The Holy Temple in Jerusalem will be reestablished at the time of the Messiah.

Mal. 3:1: “Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall clear the way before me: and YHVH, whom you seek, shall suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom you delight in, behold, he shall come, says YHVH of hosts.

Ezek. 37:21-28: “And say to them, Thus says YHVH God; Behold, I will take the children of Yisra᾽el from among the nations, into which they are gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: and I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Yisra᾽el; and one king shall be king over them all: and they shall no more be two nations, nor shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: nor shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them in all their dwellingplaces, where they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God. And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also follow my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. And they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Ya῾aqov my servant, in which your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell there, they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them, which I will give them; and I will multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. And my tabernacle shall be with them: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Then the nations shall know that I YHVH do sanctify Yisra᾽el, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.”

Micah 4:1-2: “But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of YHVH shall be established on the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and peoples shall stream towards it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of YHVH, and to the house of the God of Ya῾aqov; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for Tora shall go forth from Żiyyon, and the word of YHVH from Yerushalayim.”

…..the Temple still is not rebuilt; Jesus could not have rebuilt the temple– the second temple was still standing in his lifetime and destroyed by the Romans shortly afterwards. Christians claim that Jesus will return to be king and build the temple, but check out all these scriptural contradictions.

3. World wide peace and an end to all wars. Universal disarming of weapons.

Isaiah 2:3-4: “Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of YHVH, to the temple of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.” The law will go out from Zion, the word of YHVH from Jerusalem. 4 He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.

Isa 65:17-25: “ “See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. 18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. 19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. 20 “Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; the one who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere child; the one who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. 21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They will not labor in vain, nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by YHVH, they and their descendants with them. 24 Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, and dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,” says YHVH.”

The condition for peace from the beginning has been based on obedience. And at that time, the time of the Messiah, according to scripture, all will accept the Torah and obey it’s precepts.

Lev 26:1 “Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am YHVH your God. 2 Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am YHVH. 3 If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, 4 I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. 5 Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land. 6 I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove wild beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country.”

…obviously war exists still, and many wars have been fought in the name of Jesus since shortly after his time. He certainly did not bring peace to this world! He even said he did not bring peace but a sword…(Matthew 10:34).

4. When the Messianic age arrives all Jews will follow the commandments of the Torah and teach them to the nations, which as is stated above is the condition for world peace.

Ezek 37:24: “And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also follow my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them.”

Deu 30:8-10 “You will again obey YHVH and follow all his commands I am giving you today. 9 Then YHVH your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. YHVH will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors, 10 if you obey YHVH your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to YHVH your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” (Promise based on condition of obedience).

Jer 31:31-33 “The days are coming, declares YHVH, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. 32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them, declares YHVH. 33 This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time, declares YHVH. I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

Zep 3:12-13 “But I will leave within you the meek and humble. The remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the LORD. 13 They will do no wrong; they will tell no lies. A deceitful tongue will not be found in their mouths. They will eat and lie down and no one will make them afraid.”

…not all Jews embrace the Torah and many do not follow the commandents but the times of the true Messiah when the remnant of Israel will arise, this time will be different. I pray we are ready for it! Clearly Jesus did not provoke such a change in Israel nor in those of the nations. Christians do not embrace the Torah, they embrace the teachings of the New Testament. One day it will be different!

5. The Messiah will rule Israel and those of the nations will destroy all idolatrous religions and their idols.

Isa 2:19-21 “People will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from the fearful presence of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth. 20 In that day people will throw away to the moles and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship. 21 They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from the fearful presence of YHVH and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.”

Eze 11:16-20 “Therefore say: This is what the YHVH says: Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone. 17 Therefore say: This is what the YHVH says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again. 18 They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. 19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.”

Zec 3:8-10: Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they [are] men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. 9 For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone [shall be] seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. 10 In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.”

Isa 45:23-25 “By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before me every knee will bow; by me every tongue will swear. 24 They will say of me, ‘In the LORD alone are deliverance and strength.’ ” All who have raged against him will come to him and be put to shame. 25 But all the descendants of Israel will find deliverance in the LORD and will make their boast in him.”

Psa 86:8-9 “Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. 9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name.”

…obviously this hasn’t happened yet, nor was it the case in the days of Jesus.

6. The Messiah must be from the Tribe of Judah and a direct descendant of King David and King Solomon.

Gen 49:10 “The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his.”

2Sa 7:12-14 “When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his father, and he will be my son. When he does wrong, I will punish him with a rod wielded by men, with floggings inflicted by human hands.

1Ch 22:9-10 “But you will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon, and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign. 10 He is the one who will build a house for my Name. He will be my son, and I will be his father. And I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.”

…Genealogy is only passed from father to son in Tanach. The Christian Bible says he didn’t have a father from the Tribe of Judah, since he was claimed as “born of a virgin by the Holy Spirit.” Also the geneology of Jesus in Matthew lists Jeconias (Matthew 1:11) whose descendants were declared exempt from future kingship over Israel.

Jer 22:28-30 “Is this man Coniah (son of Jehoikim, also called Jeconias in the New Testament) a despised broken vase? a vessel wherein is no delight? Wherefore are they thrown out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not? 29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of Jehovah! 30 Thus saith Jehovah: Write this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.”

7. The true Messiah will offer up burnt sacrifices of six lambs on the Sabbath and new moons in the third temple..

Ezek 46:2-4: “And the prince shall enter by the way of the porch of that gate from outside, and shall stand by the post of the gate, and the priests shall prepare his burnt offering, and his peace offerings, and he shall bow down at the threshold of the gate: then he shall go out; but the gate shall not be shut until the evening. Likewise the people of the land shall bow down at the door of this gate before the Lord on the sabbaths and on the new moons. And the burnt offering that the prince shall offer to the Lord on the sabbath day shall be six lambs without blemish, and a ram without blemish.”

8. YHVH does not accept human sacrifices!! It is an abomination…

Deu 12:30-31: “Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.”

(How would he send his own child to be sacrificed if he calls it an abomination?)

9. The true messiah is a human representative appointed by YHVH but not to be worshiped, not even the angels receive worship for they are only messengers of the Most High God. (To see my study about Angel messengers: https://ariellat.wordpress.com/2022/09/17/good-angels-evil-angels-angels-and-demons/)

Exo 20:3-5: “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me”

After all of this, where does that leave Jesus?

The Christian view of the Messiah is…

that he:

*comes to give his life to forgive sins

*is part of the Godhead and as thus is to be worshiped

*existed from eternity past

*is born of a virgin and has no earthly father

*is the “word incarnate” by which God created the world

*the only way to the Father

*is a mediator that defends the believer to God (stands between the believer and God)

*is the only salvation from sin. That since the problem (Christian concept) of original sin which means that man cannot overcome in his own strength because he was born in sin, the Messiah offers his life to give man that power and his blood is offered to cover the sins that are committed by the believer who without him cannot overcome.

*Works in the Heavenly Court judging who is worthy of salvation (a misinterpretation of the book of Daniel.)

*Returns at the end of earth time to gather faithful believers in him, some believe they will be raptured and others that Jesus sets up a kingdom on earth. At that time he destroys the wicked (those who do not believe in him) with the brilliance of his coming.
